The Concord Baptist Church of Christ
CHRISTFUND
Established in 1988, the Christ Fund was established to support the uplift of Central Brooklyn’s neighborhoods and people. It was the first such fund created by an African American congregation, and it was made possible by the sacrificial and faithful giving of the people of Concord Church. We believe that Christ makes the difference!
The Christ Fund provides grants to organizations that are working to make a difference in the lives of people. Funded at one million dollars, the Christ Fund gives away its annual interest through a process that is led by a Board of Governors. The Board receives and evaluates proposals from community organizations and makes it recommendations to the congregation, which then votes. Grants are presented publicly each year during the worship service which celebrates the birthday of the late civil rights leader and Baptist pastor, the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
The Christfund has made grants in excess of $1M since its inception.
